The Bootleg Glory

What’s the story of The Bootleg Glory Yeah, that rhymed. ? After five guys from Newcastle Ontario decided to form a band, their first real roadblock came in the form of a lawsuit This isn’t particularly rare in the world of Rock N’ Roll, but at least this one’s innocent ;-). Apparently their original name, Us and Them, wasn’t so original, and the band in the UK who thought of it first didn’t feel much like sharing Pffft, whatever…. The new name is cooler anyway…. Back to the drawing board they went, and they decided to look to some influences for inspiration. They wrote down the names of songs by artists they were in to, and two that stuck out were 'Bootleg Saint' by Sam Roberts, and 'Morning Glory' by Oasis. Presto… Now, to write some tunes.

The Bootleg Glory’s sound has been described as a mixture of The Hives, The Strokes, The White Stripes, and Kings of Leon, or as an “aggressive Kooks Not bad company to be in….” They definitely fit well into the new generation of Rock N’ Roll bands with their ‘here for a good time’ attitude that translates well through their music and performances These guys SERIOUSLY rock out on stage. Just check out the above video. Lead singer Ryan Thomas’ voice adds a great deal of distinction to the sound, and he’s backed by a rock solid group of musicians. Guitarists Dylan Burns and Matt Meraw share the rhythm and lead duties and trade killer catchy riffs back and forth. Travis Blodgette is one of those rare bass players who can find the pocket and stay there, while still managing to stand out tastefully at the right times. Nicholas ‘Red’ Greaves The newest addition to The Bootleg Glory, as original drummer Eric Mroz left the band in 2008 is the man in the driver’s seat, holding it down on the kit with the best of them.

After winning a series of ‘Battle of the Bands’ competitions, The Bootleg Glory accumulated some recording time at various studios, which resulted in their first release entitled “Some Say It’s Fake, But It’s Just UNREAL.” This unofficial album demo helped them fuel the creative fires, and gave them a chance to shop their sound. Local songwriter and producer Brad Stella Who has since moved to Nashville to follow his career with his wife and musical partner Mary-Lynne Stella, making him slightly less local, but way more connected! caught wind of the project and took the quintet under his wing to help with their development. Since then the band’s progressions have landed them a record deal with VMG, a live to air performance on Toronto’s #1 new rock station EDGE 102.1, and a great deal of attention from some of the music industry’s heavy hitters. All this before even releasing an official record!
